R.O. Systems and waste water

I have spoken to doc Lopez and OPG about this system before and anyone who is interested in saving water and money on your water bill here is something neat to look into, and it retro fits r.o. Systems of any kind I believe. It sends the waste water from r.o. To a different area to be used instead of wasted, I suggested sending it to your hot water heater to be reused instead of dumping all that water, and as a rookie reefer I do feel it is also a responsibility to conserve water especially with summer coming shortly and what better way to do it, you ever heard of that expression "save some for the fishes" we'll that's our hobby and what ever we can do to help out we should try. I myself have not purchased it but I am also still using my regular tap until I can get my r.o. System running then I will try to get one of these ASAP any way here's a link to amazon.com where I found it and I hope some of you fellow reefers take it into consideration and I apologize again for a long post as usual. :wavehand:

I was considering a 2nd membrane to cut down on waste but these isn't about 100$ more and zero waste. I love that. I hate dumping water down the drain

I wish I did know someone who did have it installed I'm pretty sure a plumber would be able to do it no problem ill try to check you tube and see what I can find

I'm assuming I can just get a 3/8" adapter that hooks up to hot water supply with 1/4" John Guest fitting and plug waste line into it. Probably be next big purchase for me

hey you know better than me in my previous post im stressing the fact at how i suck at plumbing lol but if you do get it and it does work out for you can you please take pics or a video so that way maybe we can give people an example on how it works when hooked up if you can that would be awesome!

I have a zero waste system in my house but have a question for the forum...

Does it really save money?
Seems to me that water down the drain is probably cheaper than the electric to drive the pump.

I'm moving to a new house and will be getting a new RO system. I'd like to know if it's worth the more expensive RO combined with paying for electricity to drive the pump.

are you saying that you're TDS comes out of your waste water at 50?

I have a booster pump installed on my Roo DI system, and it really saves my filters more than the water waste. my TDS went from about 10 to 3 as soon as I added the booster pump in the system. that being said my Rodi both last longer so it saves me money in the long run.

Check how many watts the pump uses and check how much you pay kw per hour then check how much you pay per gallon of water, it should give you a number

that's been the avg - sometimes less sometimes more. is that too high to use for FOWLR? how high is yours? i get 80 psi of soft well water @ $1.35 per 1000 gallons - best thing is there are no Ca deposits on my bath & kitchen fixtures. wifey loves that!
