Hi,is this a bad sign?it had been in the same place for about 8 months and two weeks ago started exploring the tank and hasn't stopped moving.i was worried that it wasn't happy with the water conditions (I have had some prob s with raising the calcium).i have just noticed a gaping hole on about 1/3 of it's base. Is it stressed out and dying ,or reproducing?

Splitting

On closer inspection,it looks like it hasn't finished! I think the two halves will also separate,I can see splits in both ..I think it's too coincidental with my water parameter imbalance I have at present to be natural.thoughts?,

Definatley splitting. Nobody really knows why they split 100% there are a few theories surrounded by this. Your nem could be sick and spliting to ensure survival, it could be spliting because the enviroment its in is unstable and again its a survival technique or your tank is in optimal shape and its splitting for good reasons. To be honest it looks in really good shape and wouldn't worry to much if its not showing as signs of sickness.

Yes, time will tell.just seems that my recent attempt to raise the calcium level with unusually large concentrations may have sparked it.
