i've been trying to!. lol. i've been feeding 2 times a day since i got him and i've seen no change in his thickness, even though i see him devouring almost all the food i put in the tank.

Are you feeding Nori? Could be some internal parasites are the culprit? Did you quarantine or think of quarantining now?

P.S. Not trying to bash your thread either, I think it would be nice to see everyone's rabbitfish.

My inseparable pair:

They squabbled in QT but are best buddies in the DT. They were almost always discoloured (camoflaged) in QT and it looked to be quite stressful for them. But they made it through and now they are just so active and always in teh center of the DT waiting for food and swim up close when I pass by (as they all do). Added yellow in the tank is very nice too. I love these fish. :)

Rabbitfish and foxfaces are great, truly underestimated fish. Hardy, personable, minimal agression, attractive, many are moderated sized... I don't have access to my pics right now, but will try to post my blue spotted rabbitfish. It's best buds with the emperor angel.

Tom-I haven't been feeding it Nori, cause I didn't think it was that necessary because he was regularly eating. But if his condition doesn't improve I'll probably take your advice and feed him it.

Nex-Those rabbitfish look TINY compared to that huge clam you have. How long are they? I always figured that foxface/rabbits couldn't be mixed because of agression, but your story gives me stocking ideas for the future!

Lisa-definately post your pics. Yea my rabbit follows my Koran angel around everywhere (sort of like urs and ur emperor). Maybe it's got mental problems and thinks it's an angel.lol

I'd definately get him some nori every day. They need some meaty food as well, but they are primarily algae grazer in the wild. I'll try to get pics of my Magnificent Foxface up shortly.

The Squamosa is a beast. Maybe 15" long. The trick with a lot of fish when pairing is to get one bigger than the other so there's a dominant fish and no squabbling over who wants to wear the trousers. :D

One is maybe 3" and the other half an inch smaller. There is ZERO aggression between the two. They just swim together, totally chilled.

I have 2 Emperors in QT right now and one is quite a bit bigger than the other. Maybe 4" vs 2". The big one will chase the smaller one out the way sometimes but not all the time. The smaller one is not intimidated at all but has the sense to move if told. There are many fish that will co-exist even if people don't attempt it often. People like to have a varied selection of fish so if you have a pair of one it's one less of something else you could have. I just love to see fish interactive their own kind and always pair if I can. Have a Banggai pair that spawned regular before I re-did the rockwork and have 4 offspring living in the tank when people say that usually doesn't happen. My male Clarkii jumped and I got a replacement which paired with the resident female within 5 minutes of entering the tank. Had a pair of Heniochus butterflies but one jumped (have net covers now) and have a pair of Lyretails left of 5 (yep, more jumpers).

In the future I intend to do a pair of Regal Angels and a harem of Royal Grammas. I'd like to do a Tank pair but I'm not really into most tangs (have a PBT and a YT). A pair of Clown Tangs would be nice. I intend to get one as my last fish but two...might be pushing it. :)

I would not say that foxfaces are "personable"

Yes they are hardy, cheap, and bold in colour.

However, it seems like the foxface only has 2 personalities :

1)Hungry
2)Fear

He's the biggest fish in my tank but the first to cower in the corner, which alarms the other fish went he darts back.

sir patrick-sorry to hear about your zoas! i havent seen him go after any of my corals yet, so im keeping my fingers crossed!

Nex-huh, i never really thought of adding pairs of fish similar to the way clownfish pairs are added. good to know for the future

Conesus-nice fish, and ur lucky it hasnt eaten anything! thats called a scribbled rabbit correct?

SOOOO true. Literally everything you typed describes my foxface to a tee.

There are plenty of people who describe their foxface's behavior exactly as WuHT and fender4string do, and if the majority of anecdotal evidence is to be believed, that's more the norm. But mine is absolutely personable. Never hides or gets "spooked," ever. Always out and about at the front of the tank. Follows you along inquisitively (and admittedly, hungrily) as you walk back and forth near the tank. One of the first fish I acquired when I started this hobby two years ago, and still one of my favorites. Can't imagine my tank without it.

my orange spotted rabbit and foxface are fearless. they both eat form my hand every night and dont even spook until i start rearranging the tnak or something.
