Rabbitfish/Foxface Owners, POST HERE!!!!!

Here's the mag pair

Is it normal for foxface to have a tiny line down their side? It's about as big as a wire and is near the top. Is this a vein?

Its the fishes lateral line, most fish have one that is visable if you look close enough.

Foxfaces and rabbitfish are just an awesome and under-appreciated group of fish. My juvenile Doliatus was the most skittish fish I ever kept but is now hand tame, my fiji foxface was tame from the second day in the tank. Aside from not always being reef safe (I've never had a problem but I know a lot of folks have), they are close to the perfect reef fish.

The yellow one spot foxface we had was exactly as WuHT described. He was an aggressive eater (fatter than a pig and still kept most food from everyone else) but would dash to cover at the slightest thing. Since he was really freaking out the rest of the fish with his antics (our more timid fish were not coming out to eat) he had to go. The yellow color was lovely though.

simply beautiful fish!!!

I have a One Spot Foxface as some have mentioned that theyre foxes are always scared and spooked, I would agree to some degree.. But my foxface never gets scared with me, its only when new people enter my room and whnen someone other than me feeds . Great fish:beer:

I'm just curious, has anyone ever had their Foxface "host" a piece of coral? Mine loves to hide in my (large) Xena colony from time to time.

has any one had a coral rabbit fish? They are the yellow ones with blue spots. I have seen a post that states that they are reef safe but I do not believe this yet. I would like some people to post experiences with them before I loose my zoes etc. I have not ever heard of one nipping at SPS but zoes are the most likely thing for them to eat.

So any one with a coral rabbit fish?

I'd love to have a foxface, but am worried about my zoa gardens. I may have wait to purchase from a trusted fellow reefer who is taking a break from the hobby.

This thread was great and was the driver in wanting to pick up a magnificent foxface. Thanks everyone for posting their pictures. I picked on up last night and is in QT right now. Hopefully by the time he's through with that will be going into my 180 upgrade.

Don't forgot to post a pic Jason. I have a mag on my list of fish once I start my rebuild. BL1's photo of his mag has really made me excited about getting one. The pic is stunning.

I agree, I now want a foxface:)

No pic of mine but he's a jumper. If yours ever takes the leap of faith do not panic and pick it up by hand. Yes I knew they were venomous but forgot in the haste. One of the worst pains ever. Started at my finger tip and spread up to my elbow. Hot water works wonders but get the sting site submerged fast!!!

Love my Foxface. He is a character. This was not too long after he was in main display. He liked to hide in my Sinularis at night. He is a lot bigger now, but does not like the camera (at least not in my hands).

Foxface

My Foxface- I've had him for seven years, never ate a zoanthid or picked at an LPS, but he loves his Nori which he gets daily. Rock solid- he's been through some tough times and is still beautiful.
