Radiant wrasse in hiding day 5

Day 5 and my new radiant wrasse remains in my sand bed. When would you start to be concerned? He was just added and away he went which I know is common for them.
Suggestions?

This is pretty common, whatever you do dont go digging him up. Many times their internal timing is off. If he is waking up while the lights are off and you notice this try feeding him. Often times when food becomes available they will stay up a little later. Keep this up everytime you see him, pushing back the feeding by a half hour each time.

My radiant wrasse took 4-5 days to come out. I wouldn't worry

Up to 3 weeks of hiding is not unheard of.

Saw him come out this morning for the first time -day 6. Fed right when I saw him and he was eating like a champ. I just couldn't resist this fish. I have seen them before but none this nice and large. Must be about 5 inches, so I remember...lol. Hope he comes out more regularly soon.

Maybe a dumb question but how is it that they can breath buried in the sand?
