Radiant Wrasse Problem

Hey I have had my radiant wrasse for about 8 days now and I've only seen him twice. I would have to poke into my sand to get him to come out. Now I can't seem to find him and I'm afraid of disturbing my sand bed anymore than I already have. Anyone have a suggestion on how to find him? I'm getting nervous thinking he's starving to death.

Just wait and watch- if you 'run him' out of the sand it could make him more stressed this decrease chances of eating ....

he may be out of sight for a week or so .....he may even come out at night sometimes picking as this is when its the most calm and the other fish are sleeping....he will also need to get used to the light schedule ....dont disturb the sand just let him ease into the new home....

Sometimes the fish is just feeling shy since you just introduced him into his new home. Give it some more time to get used to his new environment and also the light schedule, etc. Good luck with your new fish mate!

Look around and make sure you don't see anything weird but wrasses can hide for long amount of time- he could eat pods and you never see him for weeks - be patient and observate

Glad he came out. Remember these guys come from Africa and by the time they get to the states they've been through a bunch of different time zones. Their days and nights are so messed up it takes them some time to get used to everything again. Make sure you feed him when he's out cause its very common for them to go to bed early or wake up late.

I have never had a wrasse die while buried (knock on wood). I had a wrasse bury for 2 months and I thought he was dead. Then one day hes out swimming around like nothing happened. Just let him do his thing.

Did you buy him eating?
