radiant wrasse sick ??

I have had the pleasure of having a radiant wrasse for about 2 years. It was always somewhat timid but always showed up at feeding time, she was visible every day.
One day it disappeared and went sight unseen for over 2 weeks maybe it's even been 3 weeks. Today it showed up and then within 5 minutes of seeing it, I found it in the front corner of my 180 laying on the sand. I tried to catch her but she swam off behind some of my rockwork. I thought she was dead weeks ago. I do have alot of rock, and this is the first time she has ever been seen laying on the sand. She is the second largest fish in a 180G to a PB tang. She is about 5". I did recently get an exquisite wrasse, but it is 1/2 the size of the radiant.

is all this normal ??

I used tropic eden sand when I set the tank up. I'm almost certain it is not the sand.

I should probably clarify my main question, and that would be........." has anyone heard of a wrasse disappearing for this long of a period of time ??"
I wrote her off as dead weeks ago.
I still haven't seen her again since I posted above.

i had a friend that had a wrasse missing for a month. he introduced it then was never seen again but came back out of nowhere

when it was laying on the sand was it breathing heavy or anything?

It actually looked healthy. It went sight unseen until earlier tonight again. It sat on the sand long enough for me to geed a good look at her. No signs of external parasites. Not thin. After about 15 seconds of laying on the sand, she swam to a different area and sat on the sand.
I'll try and look for her breathing next time I see her. I'm glad to here someone else has seen a wrasse disapear for a month. Mine seems like it is in a daze of sorts. Getting it's wits back. Hope she lives.

I have not seen her today. I wasn't sure whether to catch her, or if that would stress her out. I'm open to any suggestions. It's just unusual that she has been seen sitting/lying on the sand the last 2 times I saw her. When never before in years have I seen her sit/lay.

I did not QT the exquisite. I guess I should have. The exquisite has been in my tank for at least 3 months if not more.
I did see and catch the radiant and I now have it in my frag tank so i can catch her easier for my hospital tank once I get it going. I do have my hospital tank's filter in my display's sump for just this purpose.
I did notice she was breathing heavy. I put a tupperware container in my frag tank and she dove right in and went back to bed.
Any suggestions on what to treat her for ? or with ? I will repeat I do not see anything external on the fish. I also have had a cleaner wrasse and 3 cleaner shrimp in the display. that seems to keep everyone free of external parasites and that includes my powder blue. Haven't seen any cleaners working on anyone in well over 3 months, well before I got the exquisite.

I too have a radiant. Mine comes out all day long, everyday. A while back I had a bit of an issue that took out a few of my other wrasses (radiant was the only wrasse not affected). A divided leopard, McCosker's flasher, and a baby chistletooth. All of which went from being fine one day and gone the next. The only one that I ever even saw again was the little chistletooth. And he did the exact same thing you're describing. Come out lay on his side just breathing heavy. I tried to catch him but he too darted away beind the rocks. I also did not quarantine the newcomers. Somone on RC said that many wrasses are suceptable to internal parasites. Needless to say he didn't make it and it's been months and still no sign of the other 2. I'm sure they didn't make it either as my nitrates went sky high shortly after this happened. Don't know if this helps but thought I'd share. Good luck.
