Radiant Wrasse

jermey has one, they are good looking but can eat inverts. like to burry in the sand at night, can be and i stress can be a bit pesky and mean. but all in all they tend to be good fish i believe that they eat flat worms too. pretty guys. do well in reefs that have no verts in them.

I have had mine for about two years. They are relatively new in the hobby; right around 5-7 years I believe.

They are a very good reef fish but they are hard to come by as they are a fish that is snatched up quickly.

I have never had a problem with them eating my inverts and my radiant has grown to 5-6 inches. I do feed my tank at least twice a day with a meaty food source.

I hear you on the hard to come by Mark. I dont think i have ever seen one at any LFS.

The only places I see them regularly is Ost and sometimes John's.

like the green and yellow wrasses they can be known to eat smaller crabs and snails as well as flatworms and nudis too. but that being said there are always cases where they defy the norm. i am not positive on which is the norm in this case but i am positive that i have heard of them eating inverts. also live aquaria has them in the normal stocked reef fish section for a fair price. aqualife has had a few in the past but mark them as not safe for reef. mark have you seen yours be a bully to other wrasses yet?

Nope. I have a few friend that keep them in their reef too. All three of us have had them for over two years and they all good size fishes now. They are even developing the rounded bottom lips. They get along with my fairy wrasses, mystery and hogfish.

Every fish is different, but the radiant is on the better end of the spectrum.

One of my fav fish. First one didnt make it so am on my second now. All from LFS. First one I came across by chance. Second one i had to wait for a little while. My LFS has a notify list so they let me know as soon as they had one.

As the other posters stated, all fish are different. My first one was really peaceful. Didnt bother anyone and just went about his business. Never bothered any inverts. My second one is now the most aggressive fish in my tank. Not too bad but likes to show he is boss. I have seen him eat a snail but that was only after my hermit crab killed it for its shell. After the hermit tore the snail out, the radiant (and all my other wrasses as well) went to town on the dead snail. Other than that, have had no other instances. I have blood shrimps, cleaner shrimps, hermits, snails and clams in my tank. Haven't seen him bother anything else.

I have hermits and snails of different sizes. The hermit that killed my snail was a rather large one... maybe the size of a half dollar, but I do have other small hermits and margarita snails too.

Here is a pic of my radiant with a flasher...

Wrasses are cool :) Trying to force myself to get other fish because I have too many wrasses already :)

Ivbe kept them over the years currently have 2 in my display. Great pest predators.
Africa shipments get's them.
Pretty common in south florida.

jsut got back from coral reef shop, they have a radiant in their main system, says that if you want they can get you one for about 60-70 bucks. fyi davey

no problem, but i know that if you ask any lfs they will tell you that they are semi easy to get ahold of, they are on the list just not ordered very often. on a side note theirs too doesnt bother any inverts nor does he burry at night.
