radion and apex

From what I have been told the tech in the radion is better than anything the apex can perform at this point and time. I would imagine that Neptune is currently working on some module to do just what you are talking about though. But I'm not sure if an outside controller could over ride the current sotfware at this time. Maybe Neptune will "find a way"!!!!

According to Ecotech the smart live platform is around the corner and will have a web browser. The radion's can be controlled RF but only The Reef Angel has that capability at this time. Neptune systems is able to control the Vortech Pumps, which in return are on the same frequency as the Radion's. I would think Neptune systems would hopefully come out with an upgrade the WXM Module or a new Module.

Still waiting to hear what the OP wants to do with the Radions from the APEX and why?

A little more input would be appreciated.

I wonder if they are going make an add on board for the WiFi connectivity? Unless Ecotech thought far ahead and already included a WiFi board in the current hardware and a firmware upgrade enables it? other wise get reedy to spend some more money to add the Smart Live capability.

here is what i would like to do with my radions via my apex...
how about seasonal variation? right now my radions come on and go off at the same time every day...the sun doesn't do that, so why should my tank?

Any more news on being able to control radions via apex???

As to why I want the apex to control the radions ... I have a mix of lights; radions will be an addition. The tank is in a theater room. At night watching a move I simply use my iPhone to hit "Feed C" ... all programmed to dim the lights way down to preset %'s. 3 hours later all the lights go back to their normal programming without any touches. Very simple 3 taps of the finger. Having to go to a browser to control just the radions seems silly.

Secondarily, extending the light shutdown because I'm late to feed is another simple tap of the iPhone w/ apex.

Maybe I'm spoiled with controlling things from my apex, but the lack of integration with apex is a deal killer for me. It controls my 8 vortechs and 20+ other devices ... too much to ask to control some lights?

I travel a lot. Remote control comes in handy every once and a while, however what I really want is remote monitoring to make sure everything is working OK.

Radion utility configurations

Radion utility configurations

Does anybody have custom configurations for their Radion that includes night light?

Thanks,

Apex Season Table and Radion

Apex Season Table and Radion

One feature I would love to apply to my Radions in the Season Table found in the Apex. I just installed my Radions this weekend and I haven't figured out how to replicate the season table in the configurations. Does anybody know how something similar can be programmed into the Radion settings with out having to write 365 programs and manually changing them everyday?

Thanks!

So still no love for the Apex+Radion crowd?
I have both, bought the Radions when they first came out because I was sure (as were many other people) that there would be an upgrade or an extra component that would come out to allow the two to play nice. So far I have yet to find anything.

And I think anyone saying "The Radion control is fine, why would anyone need an apex to work with it?" are being pretty silly.
Our tanks come in millions of different configurations and there are as many reasons to do things a different way as there are reef-keepers.
I for one don't care so much about the seasonal changes, but I do want a single place where I can control everything. Centralized control helps with maintenance, and fail-safing, and a host of other things. Not being able to control my entire system from one app or control pad is a hassle.

But if you want specifics, how about thunderstorms? I would like to either have a % chance of a thunderstorms each day, or at least a place I can go to one-click start the storm cycle. True, if I used Vortecs (I don't) I could at least get the propellers and lights to play nice. But what about feeding pumps or closed loops, or anything else that you might want to react to the storm cycle? As of yet I can't do it.

I am building up to a big house move in two years (finally going to be a homeowner, yaay!), When the inevitable massive tank upgrade happens before the move-in I currently plan on dropping Eco-Tech and switching to a new lighting system if I can’t find a way to control them with an Apex by then, because I want centralized control.
Which is sad because they are great lights, and I bought them specifically because they are modular so it would have been easy to add three or four more when the time came.

Check out Neptune Systems' face book post last Friday, then look at a popular reef blog that can't be mentioned here, but builds daily articles ;).

Looks like it could be a possibility in the future.
