Well I have had a long running build thread over in the nano forums, and always come drool at tanks in this forum. Since adding my Radion a couple months ago, I have been on a serious SPS kick and upped my stock from 4 to 13 different pieces of SPS. Given my recent obsession, I thought I would start a thread here.

SPS:
* ORA purple stylo
* ORA green stylo
* ORA hyacinth birds
* ORA green birds
* ORA borealis
* ORA bellina
* ORA blue mille
* ORA tricolor valida
* ORA kelley green psammocora
* ORA plum crazy
* ORA MIMF yellow lantana
* ORA red planet
* locally bred cali tort

I think we can see a theme here.... :) I plan to post monthly growth shots in this thread, you can see more info on my build thread over in the nano forums if interested.

Nice looking tank, but is that caulerpa?

Yes it is. I don't have a sump/fuge on this tank and have used caulerpa in the past to control phosphates (before switching to GFO reactor). It also has decorative appeal, you would be surprised the number of comments I have received on it. And no, it's never been a problem with regular pruning, it's been in the tank for nearly a year.

Very nice :)

Thanks!!! :)

How long have u been running the radions led? And are u satisfied with them?

I've had it since October and really have no complaints, its an amazingly adjustable and powerful fixture and I am very happy with my purchase. My SPS growth has exploded, PE is better, and colors are great.

This is a great tank Ange!

Thanks bud, you already know I am diggin your 11g!!

Looks great! like ORA hu!

Thanks!! And yes, a bit of an ORA obsession. It extends beyond corals to my fish and clams also :)

Lookin nice! What setting u using for the radion?

Thanks! Here is my current Radion profile:
I don't use clouds or storms, I think it's kind of gimmicky and not value added.

That's the best use of a Radion I've seen yet.

Very nice as others have said.

But that sticker price..... OUCH!!

Is it really that bad though? I was originally looking at some MH/T5 combo fixtures. Even for the small format 24" ones (150w MH + 2 or 4 24" T5) these fixtures range from $600-1300 for brands like AquaticLife, Geisemann, Elos, Hamilton, etc.

For LED's I researched all the options out there including Kessil, AI, Maxspect, Orphek, and even DIY. These fixtures get expensive very quickly, but you get what you pay for. The Kessil is relatively cheap ($265) but has the least features. The AI with controller is ~$475, but is lower power (75w) and not RGB. The Orphek is $900 with very limited programmibility (two-timers). A Mazarra P is $570 with controller at half the wattage (only 60w), to get to 120w you are looking at $990.

My point is, among LED's the Radion is only upper-mid-range price but packs tons of features, many of which are not offered on any other system and all in a compact and stylish looking fixture. As far as the older, bulkier, and higher power consumption MH/T5 combos go, most of those fixtures fall inline or higher in price. Not to mention the added cost of periodic bulb replacement on those fixtures. So yes, at first glance the price tag seems high, but relative to the competition I really don't think the price tag is that steep.

Just my 2c.
