Raffle Items.

Huhhhhh

I was talking to Jim at Seascape about future raffle items and he was interested in what the members were interested in seeing pop up as raffle items. It is nice to have the big ticket items but everyone may not be interested in one item and only one person can win on a big item. So he was thinking about numerous smaller items such as Kent Pro Scrapers, tongs, food, test kits and such.

Lets have everybody chime in here so we can see what you think can be useful items. If we have 40 replies and everyone has the same item or items on their list then it will be easier to make a wanted item available for more than just one person.

Personally I love the Pro Scrapers and need a good set of tongs and food is always needed so there are three choices from me right off the top of my head.

Food is good, pro scrapers are good, maybe a bag of sand, I'd like to see some hermit crab packs, snail packs, small common type fish, those would have to be picked up the morning of the meeting but would be a hit I think.

I sure like the idea of pitching in $20 and having more than 1 chance to win!
honestly I wish more stores were setup to donate an item like this for each meeting. I prefer it over a 10% discount to tell you the truth.
Maybe we can ask a few of the current sponsors if they'd go this route in the future.

cleanup crew items definately, who doesnt need a few extra snails or crabbies from time to time.... maybe a cleaner shrimp on occassion.... live rock, rock rubble, live sand, and as far as cheaper items go... food's and additives always... some of us use a lot of phyto he he.

gift certs are always good, and as far as the sponsor goes a $15 or $25 gift cert would not only get the foot traffic in, but when was the last time you spent just what you had on a gift cert? Goofball items like powerheads, bulbs... ooooo bulbs.... good quality foods... theres a ton of ways to go without having to donate the big ticket items all the time.

Personally I'd rather see four or five small ticket items than one big ticket, gives more people chances to win and naturally most our consumables end up being the $12 bottle of phyto or tech. Salt is always a good choice and to be honest IO is a smaller ticket item, I think most of us are using IO anyhow.

Just the sponsorship discount however, is a very nice gesture! Thanks to anyone who simply brings that to the table!!

I agree.

Heck, just mix it all up. All good ideas. I'm just grateful that they donate raffle items. Some months could be big, others could be small. Keeps everyone more interested. :)

Coral dip and frozen food are always in demand at my house. I know the frozen stuff can be iffy like live stuff, but it's doable. He's got some neat stuff in there, like hatch your own brine shrimp, and super long target feeders...

Bulbs would be nice, so would korelia power heads! hehe. um, he's got some great books, some of the smaller ones might make good raffle items. I'd never turn down more clean up crew as mentioned above, and even things like seaweed clips never go unused here!

I agree frozen foods and gift certs get my vote. Gift certs actually might give money back to the store depending on what you purchase its a win-win.
