Rainbow Lobo GONE MAD. CHECK THIS OUT

I've had that happen before "equilibrium off" and its not a good sign at all - QT everything and hope some pull through

hmm... i thought that my 4" green hermit (i have no idea what species) was a hunter, but it turned out he was just grabbing my dead fish and shrimp. And Monkey... no need to 3x post.

how long have you had your tangs? does your Ph fluctuate? do you use auto top off? or is your slainity in constant fluctuation? Yous ailfin, sadly to say, will probablynot last more than 48 hours if it is already showing signs of off balance so to speak and not eating. I had one do the same thing not long ago, but I had only had it for two weeks, so it must have already been sick before I aquired it. It started off great, ate well, and all, but two weeks later, he died after shwoing signs like yours.

If all the water params are ok then another thing to check is the food you are feeding. I once fed some food that nearly wiped out my tank.

It was food that we had made at a reef club meeting and I had been feeding it for about 4 months without any issues. Killed my vlamingi, total bummer, he ate the most. It wasn’t due to a lack of O2 or water quality. After discussions with others in my area’s reef club, similar issues occurred for them at around the same time. We were able to get the word out and only a few others lost fish. Now when the group makes food we sterilize everything and use gloves to work with the food.

I fed the fish and they all went lethargic about 3hrs later. I woke up to find the vlamingi dead and the others just hanging at the bottom of the tank gasping. I put a power head in to circulate the water at the other fish in my tank. The others recovered and I threw out the food. I now make sure I track the age of the food and toss it if it gets over a month or so.

Maybe something else to consider…
