Rainford's Goby?

I know that A. rainfordi will feed exclusively on pods and will very rarely, if ever, take prepared foods. My question is, in this case, how do I quarantine him? This same question comes up with mandarins a lot, but they can (and are sometimes willing to) subside on prepared foods until they can be added the dt, on top of the fact that they tend to be relatively resistant to common diseases like ich.

When I asked the most trustworthy employee at the lfs (he's a marine bio major and has always given me sound advice in the past - checked against this site and my local reef club), he advised not quarantining it due to the risk of it starving. How would you attempt this, rc?

I have one that I didn't quarentine and he is doing good with no diseases or parasites. They also eat algae mine even eats green hair algae

My hermits and snails won't even look at my hair algae, but I was saving it for my tomini tang anyways.

Good to know that he'll (sometimes?) eat gha.

I didn't quarantine mine (like almost all my other fish) and he's done very well. He doesn't eat prepared foods but grew fast and got fat off of sand sifting and/ or any pods he found. Unfortuantely mine doesn't touch green hair algae and I've got loads of it. I haven't heard of them doing much to Green hair algae.

Well, I just picked up my Rainford. He's active and looked healthy, but we'll see. He's acclimating to my dt and my yellow watchman is acclimating to my qt.

I have a yellow watchman with mine to 2 of my favorite fish

Just put him in the tank - he swam around for a minute or two then found a hiding spot in the back of the tank (behind the rockwork).

Hopefully when he adjusts after a few days he'll move out more.

(As I type this, I just turned around and he's peaking around the side; he went from hiding to exploring the inch or two between the rocks and glass.)

Mine came out within an hour of putting him in and he is always sifting sand or eating algae
