Randall's Goby and Pistol shrimp hiding

Today is the 3rd day after I added a Randall's Goby and a Candy Stripe Pistol shrimp to my tank. After about an hour they disappeared and the entrance to the burrow is closed with tiny pieces of rocks, etc. I'm not even sure if both of them are inside but my tank is covered so the goby couldn't jump out of it. How long it usually takes for them to get out? Is it possible that the shrimp is inside and the goby is hiding somewhere else in the rocks? They were not mated but I purchased them at the same time from the same online vendor. They were very active when they arrived and I acclimated them for about 2.5 hours.

You can never be sure where goby/shrimp combos will set up camp, after you add them to your tank.Chances are they're hiding.Hopefully they'll set up camp in the the front of the tank for you :)

The entrance to the burrow is right in front of the tank but how they can survive without food?

They will be able to find food lying around.Maybe put some extra food in the back in the morning.

Fish can go quite a while without food. They either found something they're eating or they just aren't hungry.
And... I'm fairly sure you mean they weren't paired up. A fish and a shrimp are never going to be a mated pair.

Yes. Paired up not mated. Stupid mistake on my part. I woke up this morning and there is a pile of sand near the entrance so the shrimp definitely is alive.
