So tonight i have noticed a weird thing happening. all and i mean ALL of the hitchhiker brittle stars in my tank are reaching their arms up and coming out tonight. like EVERYwhere, it seems like a mass brittle starfish assault? just a quick check on specs because i have noticed some things like sps tip bleaching however i did correct that (alk was 12 dkh and now is 10.5-11dkh) sal is 1.026. i have never seen this activity happening all over like this before, yea here and there, but this is weird.

has anyone ever seen this happening before with the brittles though?

Yes, most nights in my case. I have a lot of them. I think they are feeding on bacteria or other plankton . They pop up in zoanthus colonies all the time. Sometimes bunches oflegs togerther lead me to react as if it was an aiptasia that needs scraping out till I look more closely.
