There is a vodka method of removing nitrate, I have a 92G and I was wondering how I do this process and how much to add and how often. Thanks

The ethanol in the vodka drives bacterial growth, and that growth reduces nitrate and phosphate as the bacteria take up nutrients to grow.

I don't have a recommendation for dose as I do not use it and haven't experimented with it. I prefer macroalgae. But buried in that long thread are recommendations by people who have used it.

Macroalgae (especially chaeto) is very safe, but caution should be used with vodka. European reefers are reporting that you can have problems including tank wipe-out by not going gradually enough and/or using too much vodka (causes bacteria blooms in such high concentrations that they can deplete the oxygen levels enough to kill fish and corals).

I am currently using 2ml of vodka on my 75g tank, and I worked up to that amount over a 2 month time period. I would prefer having a larger fuge to grow more chaeto, but don't have the room in my office for a larger sump.

Coil denitrators can be a pain to operate. I like macroalgae because it can drop both phosphate and nitrate, and doesn't require much attention. :)
