I've been really busy since our stove died, have to try to keep the wife's stove choices reasonable (I've been calling her Mrs. Rockefeller lately :lol: )
AND I'm researching a new pick up truck... leaning heavily toward the Toyota Tundra double cab at the moment. Of course this is a major research project...
The bubble trap works well for bubbles. The only problem that I'm having is that the diameter of the two chambers is a little too close, and the inner chamber is not tall enough.
The result is that the water level in the main sump tub has an impact on the rate that the bubble trap drains into the sump. This causes the water level in the inner chamber of the bubble trap to change somewhat with the water level in the sump.
When the water level in the bubble trap changes, it has an effect on my balanced overflow and the skimmer as well.
So I have some work to do in that department. I need a taller inner chamber and/or more room between the inner and outer containers for better flow there.
It's working well enough for now, but I'm keeping my eye out for better containers for the bubble trap. Unfortunately that will not help with the bubbles coming from where the refugium drains into the sump. I still have to figure that one out...

It is from the water falling. Unfortunately, the skimmer is sitting right where the fuge drains to the sump. It is done by two bulkheads that attach the fuge tub to the sump tub. Not enough room to do any pipes. I can't even put elbows there which would probably help. The sump is just too small to do much... If I make a new bubble trap that is rectangular, it may allow me to improve the fuge drain and get rid of the bubbles. The bubbles aren't too bad, but they are there...

So... this is not a thread for dialup connections... So I guess this will be OK. This file is about 2 MB...
Remember, one of the islands is still not finished. The other two are pretty much done though. Between them is a rock with some gorgonia on it. I should have moved it. The only thing I'm planning to have in the sand between the islands are clams or maybe a nice closed brain or something...

Take the time to look at the Nissan -- I bought a Titan after looking at all of the options out there -- For the money the Titan had more cab room -- more power and a better warranty. I've had it for a year now and don't regret the decision at all -- I have hauled a yard and 1/2 of rock in the back of it and didn't have any problems -- you can't do that in the toyota -- my neighbor has one -- tried it and had to dump some of the rock because the truck was on the bumpers -- I have also towed a trailer on it and barely noticed it being back there --

Thanks Stile2, Gabriel, FiberLux - I am really pleased with the rock setup so far. Of course, there aren't any corals on there, but eventually I'll get there.
Mr. Hankey is an Atlantic Cucumber. He basically eats dirty sand and poops out clean sand! :lol: Once he got stuck on my CL intake screen and I thought I might loose him, but he's doing really well as far as I can tell
Very strange animal for sure. But that's why I love marine tanks! I like neat fish, but bristle stars and cucumbers are at least as interesting IMO.
The toyota is really nice inside... This truck needs to be a truck when I need a truck but also needs to be as close to a nice car as possible for when I need to deal with clients at work and such. So interior comfort and style will play a large factor in whatever I get. It will have all leather interior and other perks...

Thanks Marc, that container has some Clibanarius vittatus "Green Striped" hermit crabs. They are pretty rough characters and tend to just run all over everything. Much different personality than something like a blue leg or scarlet hermit from my observation. I've read that they are not really a good reef tank critter and it seems that way to me as well. So I decided to put them back in the intracoastal waterway (they are FL native crabs)... But the last time I was over that way I forgot to bring them 
. My in-laws live in Titusville, about 40 minuts from us, so we go over there every few weeks or so. Eventually I'll set them free...
