After talking with Lucas at the meeting, I contacted Rapid LED and they are willing to do a demo/workshop on how to DIY LED for your aquarium at one of our future meeting. I am thinking maybe July is a good time to have it.

They will also give a 10% discount to our members at this workshop. When it gets closer I will get this line up for you.

In the mean time I've order a blue actinics LED kit so I will have something to demo too.

Let me know what you are interested in doing so we can share informations and maybe Mike from Rapid LED can come in and aswer questions.
 
I need to build a LED complement to my T5HO. I have 8x54w T5HO, but thinking new configuration 4bulbs with rest as LEDs.

I bought 120+ LEDs elsewhere and need dimmable drivers.

So look forward to their recommendation on LED wavelengths that I may be missing.

Also need maybe one standard 48P(?) dimmable driver for a nano tank setup.
 
I would be more interested in the dimable biocube 29 kit of they would offer a wine country reefer version with different color leds other than just blue and white like maybe UV, purple and red.
 
They do have different colors and you can customize. All you have to do is ask.

I bought the actinics supplement kit but instead of using just the royal blue is used 50/50 royal blue and blue LEDs. Also I asked for the 72" heats ink strip to fity 72" tank

I just checked on their website and it says their biocube kit is out of stock and they only do royal blue and white led in their kits. Maybe if i send an email to ask then they can accommodate my needs.
 
Yes you should, Mike is realy cool he will set you up. They have blue, royal blue, cyan, violet, white 10k, 6500k, red. So you have plenty of choices. How big is your bio cube dimension wise?

Just the glass part according to my tape measure is 20x15x15 high. What combination would you recommend? I'm hoping to be able to save up some money to buy that kit as well as a par38 bulb i saw on another site for the lagoon shallow i want to do.
 
The biocude 29 looks awesome, I think the combo they have is great and you don't need to change anything. Make sure to get the dimable version because it might be too much light for your tank.

Ok i was thinking maybe doing 12 royal blue, 8 white, 2 red and 2 UV. But yes it would be dimmable.

this is the par38 I'm looking at for my lagoon shallow.
 
Adding 2 red and 2 uv would be nice, lessen the white would be a good idea too. I haven't seen the red and the uv on corals yet so I am not going to use then yet.

The only caution about adding different colors is becuase they are rated at different currents so you will have to lower your current of your whole line of LED just to add red and uv. Uv runs 600-700, and white runs at 1200-2800. So if you take out some of the whites and replace them with the uvs, the driver for that line of leds will have to run lower at 600-700 so the whites will be running at a lower current. At least that is my understanding.
 
The light combo I am using is 50/50 blue/royal blue

Glad everyone is getting psyched about RapidLED. They're awesome. They'll take good care of you guys and I'm glad we got them involved for a future meeting.

I went with the solder option because I have electronics background :D I am going to be gluing the LEDS to the heatsink. If and when I decide to go with the tripple pucks, I'll definitely go quick connect because it will be much cleaner.

I'll post pixs as soon as I start putting it together.
