Raptor's 30 gal. Rimless build

I've been adding a few zoa frags but lately they appear to be withering. I was doing a 5 gal water change every 2 weeks but I'm going back to doing them weekly to see if it helps.

For a little while, I had a Yasha Goby, but it decided to go sailing through the 1/4 inch mesh and found it completely dry on the carpet. Such precision.

My latest acquisition is one of the fish that originally made me switch from FW to SW, the Blue Spotted Jawfish. This guy is awesome! It's definitely one of those fish with a distinct personality. It sits at the entrance to its tunnel and follows every little movement with its entire head. It sort of reminds me of a sock puppet with small goggles.

Here's a latest FTS.

Thanks. Pictures don't do the torch justice. I picked it up in San Diego and can't believe the intense color on it. It's what other corals are usually referred to as a Kryptonite green.

The yellow polyps seem to be taking over the bottom of the rock. I don't know if this is something that I will regret later on.

The single head Duncan has sprouted about 3 more heads and growing rapidly.

The GSP frags on the back glass have started to spread out and are now growing on the actual glass.

I have 2 wp10s that I'm going to replace the wp25 with so that I don't have to worry about the setting ever being bumped since its being run on its lowest setting.

Makes me sick every time man. I had a Pin tail wrasse find its way out of my QT last month, I was sick about it for a good 3 days.

I had a Mystery Wrasse carpet surf after a year of housing him... I was sick for almost two weeks after I found him trying to mimic a Frito Lays chip!

Yup, I had fed the corals the night before and didn't put the screen cover properly back in place. According to forensic analysis, the fish made an upward dash following the glass and sailed right through the small gap.

I have another one on order.

Now that you have had your tank up and running for a while...How do you like your LED lights? I have been away from the hobby for a couple of years and only have experience with Metal Halides and PC's. I would love to try the LED now that they are way more reasonably priced.

I love the LEDs, just not this particular unit. The fans stay on as long as the lights are on and they can be a little loud. I'm actually going to start looking for another quieter unit of the same size even if it's a bit more expensive.

Cesar, just saw this topic, and your 30 gallon Rimless looks awesome! Keep us updated! I see a coral or two that you gave me from there, thanks once again!

Sorry about the fish jerky. I've thought of making a double screen - you know - positioning the screen grids so that the holes are half the size. With adjustable lights that are rarely run at full intensity, it seems like you could make up for the shading that the double screen would cause. I haven't done this yet but I've wondered about it.

The 1/4 " screen is no problem now. I don't have anything small enough to fly through there. I actually bought another Blue Spot recently and it's doing great. I just double check to make sure that the screen is fully seated every time I move it. I'll post pics later.

Thanks to a great sale price at SEA, I picked up this Ruby Dragonet for a steal! I've been wanting one for a while to add a little more color to the tank. Sorry for the poor phone pic.

I picked up some rock yesterday and started working with it today. I've had this idea of shelves and wanted to try it out. I used pvc pipe to attach the shelves and it seems very sturdy.

After it was dry, I set it in the tank and added the sand and water. I had to mix up about 10 more gallons so I don't have a final picture yet.
