Wait... is this internet magic?

Or did you actually went from dry rock to SPS in 7 days? :eek2: :eek2:

1) Congrats on the tank it looks awesome!
2) I just got into reefing after 20 years and got two of these (20' wall)
3) Is the control board custom made or is it something I can buy?
4) Which brand is your ATO?
5) I am about to start plumbing, why is a lot of people replacing the stock with 1"? Is this something I must do before I proceed?

1. Thanks for the compliments. It's been fun setting it up which I find is the most exciting part of it for me.

2. Welcome back after 20 years. That's quite a hiatus. I waited to switch to saltwater until I retired from the military so I could be home for unexpected situations.

3. The control board is custom but easy to make. Funny that you ask because today's e-mail from MD (Marine Depot) was based on controller boards.

4. I use the Tunze 3155 ATO. I find it to be reliable and replacement pumps are inexpensive. I've used this model on 3 different tanks and haven't had any issues.

5. As far as the plumbing, the more flow the better. Another reason for changing the plumbing is to replace the valve that comes stock, with a gate valve. The stock valve will build up slime and can be finicky to tune. I changed the one on my 170 before I set it up and love it.

That plumbing looks great, how did you attach the pipe to the RSR fittings?

Overdue update. The tank has had its ups and downs as far as corals. Alk swings have kept things from growing out as well as they should but it seems like everything is pretty level now. Sps are starting to take off after having the Trident for a while and getting the PH closer to 8.

I picked up some new lights during last Black Friday and made a canopy for the T5 hybrid and Hydra 32 combo. I think this will also help out with any shaded areas.

very nice build. Missed this one until today.

Thanks. I cleaned up the wires going down from the canopy and they're almost not visible.

I printed out a bracket for the Trident and hung it up so it's now out of the way. I'll be redoing my board soon to accommodate some changes in powerheads that I've made.
It's amazing how much 3D printing and reef keeping can work hand in hand.

The lifespan to this tank came to an abrupt end last week. Being the 1st version of the 750, everyone knows that RS had issues with it not having support in the front center. One night, I noticed what appeared to be water on the bottom center of the front panel. In reality, it was the reflection of a bubble in the silicone. I had heard the horror stories on this and just crossed my fingers the entire time I had it, but my luck ran out. I had to acquire a loaner tank for the livestock and coral quickly. Long story short, I will be giving away this tank and have another one on order.

The new tank will NOT be a Red Sea. The tank is past the 3 year warranty. Even still, they didn't even offer some sort of discount or anything for the trouble. The tank is 5 years old and for the kind of money that they charge for their tanks, they should last longer than that. There are numerous threads on several forums discussing this shortcoming but that hasn't changed anything. I will not be spending anymore of my money on their aquariums.

I'm looking at an Aqua Japan Reef Pro 200 gal. with aluminum stand as my next one. It's half the price and will take up most of the space in the living room nook.

Thanks for following.

Sorry to hear about the seam. I’ve never heard of the AquaJapan brand but hopefully it works out well!

Looking forward to your new build. It’s a shame RS won’t do more for customers with this long known issue.

That stinks. Sorry for your trouble. Best of luck with the new tank.

It is a shame. I wholeheartedly agree with the above quote and I am very sorry for what you went through. Unfortunately this type of "acking in integrity" reaches far outside the spectrum of aquariums and related equipment. It's everywhere unfortunately.

Bummer for sure.

I just bought a Crystal Dynamics 200. It is probably one of the most beautifully built tanks I have seen.

My last tank was a LeeMar and it was fantastic. So good, I couldn't sell it an am going to set it up in my garage. This new tank is simply amazing. I have a build thread here, so maybe take a look at it...

CD was great to work with and stayed on their timelines as promised.
