went to my lfs today to have a look, and in one of the tanks there was a rock with just the mantle of a crocea clam comming out of the rock you could not see the shell of the clam at all it was completly encrusted by the rock. i walked to barry, he told my that this was rare to find at a lfs but that is how they are found in the wild. just wanted to share.

sorry guy's but i do not have a pic, i did not buy the clam but i did call the store to ask if they would email me a pic and they said no.

lol LFS prices ARE high unless you know somebody that works there and gets Discounts!. But also i like to support my LFS everyonce and awhile, because well.... they are the local fish store lol if it wasnt for them i would have to get everything online and that kinda sucks sometimes.

I saw several at a local store - I don't think they are chipping off chunks of rock, looks like the rock is man made formed around the clam. I could be wrong, just the impression that I got after looking at a few of them closely.

I was diving in Bora Bora a few months ago and can attest that ALL the maximas were bored into the rocks. Not a single one was in the open....and there were many thousands of them. I took a few pics of them....
