Rarest Zoanthid List

re lighting; i think it's more my photography than my lighting as to why they look red in the picture not purple. I haven't figured out how to turn off my auto flash. But anyway, i have 3x 400w aquaconnect MH and 2x 80w ATI blue + and 2x giesemann actinic plus. They look purple in the tank but grow best in a bit of shadow.

After a few days of polling, here are the results so far...

The List:

1: Purple Hornets, Serene Nove
2: Blue Hornets
3: Hawaiian Ding Dangs
4: Darth Maul, Armageddon (1 or 2)
5: Envy Orange, PPE, Rastas,

In the hunt:

Pink Dalmatian People Eaters
Sopranos

Shockingly low:

Spiderman, Icy Stars, Purple Death

They may be difficult to locate, but they are a walk in the park compared to others, some that aren't even in the top five; in my opinion anyway.

I wanted to lobby for my "Pink Dalmatian People Eaters". I got my frag from ATL. Shortly after they went out of stock. They have a "New" Pink. Dal. PE that looks nothing like mine. I did see a frag of them on Ebay last year. I bought it too. I have only sold one frag, it was here on RC, about a month ago. Does anyone else have them still? Why have they not spoke up? Rare? I think so. Did I metion they get big as a quarter. That's a big PE. My avatar photo was taken by a fellow RC member while at my house and posted on the local reef club. No photo editing, just cropped.

Purple Hornets are pretty and I will buy some soon, but since they were posted here several people have posted pics. of theirs.
The rareest zoa. prob. not.
I love my PDPE.

Dave - If you decide to sell some of your PDPEs, let me know. I'd be interested. They really are beautiful.

how bout the guy that morphed a nuclear grean and purple death polyp. He cut one polyp of each in half and glued them together.. and sure enough, later on, a morph of the two colors grew.

I am pretty sure that it was a one polyp deal on that. They ended up growing back to the original color... whichever it was.

Darth Maul and Armageddon are two of the hardest to fine.

Green Armageddon too. I know someone around my way who has those though :)

very interesting looking. little curious how "retouched" that photo might be though... or if that is an accurate coloration.

if it is, very cool.

Oh i'm sure Emoezekielsr5's photo is all good, take a look at the photos of the 30x30 tank he used to have in the "show me your cube" thread on the general discussion section. Emoezekielsr5's is back a split or two ago on that running thread. If you can't find it let me know because it's buried under a lot of stuff but i think i may have a link.
His photos of his previous tank some of my favorites for the corals and stuff but check it out it's pretty cool. I read in that thread that he has a new tank. I wish he had a current build thread for that one.

that is very cool then, the center looks like graphite or something, with that shade of black/grey. Wish I could stumble onto something half as cool as that at my LFS. its a sea of greens and browns out here :(

California gets most of the best pics since cherrypicking from the distributor is just a car trip away. we get what they pass over
