Rasta fresh cut bounce back time

Hey guys, got real lucky and made a friend who grows the crap out of his tank and he kindly gave me 15 polyps of rasta zoanthids. Fresh cut was made as soon as I got there, glued on disc and parted ways. He made a clean cut and all seems well. They just are not exactly happy yet or open.How long does it take for zoas to bounce back from a fresh cut? Not asking specifics just ball park figure from experience. Parameters are all in check, I keep softies, lps, and sps and all is happy but this new fresh cut frag.

You should leave them in the same tank they came from, so they would open, before you bring them home.

There is no time frame for them to open.
The more the differences between your tank and the one the polyps came from, the longer will take for them to open.
I assume you know the needs of the zoanthids you've got and the principles of adaptation for nearly acquired specimens.

Also Rastas don't like being fragged and are slow to get happy again.

This and how they were handled. If it was bare mat glued on sloppy and squished with bare fingers they will take much longer than some that came off attached to rock, handled with gloves, and did not have glue touching it.

I have noticed that polyps from the same colony will behave differently depending on how they are fragged. I usually try to clip off a little rock and glue that when I pull a frag but if the mat peels up and I glue the mat directly it will take significantly longer to open regularly again.

one bonus is that i've generally got the most new polyps show up immediately following fragging episodes. the coral seems to double production to preserve itself.

Not necessarily. I've been doing all types of fragging for many years...
It's just the way you do it.
In his case can be lots things...
Could be negligence too...Who knows.

They will take the time they need... Period..
