Rasta zoas

I have them all over in two different tanks. They do great under all heights and flow. Just give them time.

The three frags that I've had all melted over time. They looked great for the first 10 days or so and then it was just a slow decline. All my other polyps were fine.

I've had the same thing happen to Blue Hornets, Purple Hornets & Gold Mauls too btw. I have no idea why.

That is surprising because outside of the mauls I hadn't heard too much about melting problems on those zoas.

Mine are lower direct LED/T5 lighting with good flow. Started with a small group of polyps.

I just got a rasta zoa polyp for 20. I really do not want it to die so can anyone give suggestions on care for these guys?

I bought some on here last October they never really took off they died back to one polyp then within the last month or so they have rebounded and have grown to 8 heads. I think they are really picky the rest of my Zoas have done great over that period just the Rastas didn't do so well

Ive had bad luck with rastas as well. Ive had 2 frags melt away on me. No idea why. My 15+ other zoa frags are doing just fine. Maybe im just not supposed to have rastas lol

1 polyp for $20 seems a bit high, I got a 5 polyp frag a month ago and now I have twelve polyps I leave mine in moderate flow toward the bottom of the tank. I agree with others saying under all conditions they should thrive. My sunny d colony has been closing up a lot thinking about moving them because the fish irritate them its in a busy spot in the tank other than that thankfully I've had no zoa problems, below is the frag a couple weeks ago as you can see there's a bunch of baby polyps popping up at the time

I got a one polyp rasta frag.. its tiny and i finally have another small polyp coming in.. slowest growing of all the zoa i have..

put it in the tank on:

05/18/2015

I put a 1 and half hornet polyp frag in the same day.. the 4th polyp is coming in now.

If it looks nice and happy, $10 is a good price IMO. While I haven't had the best of luck with these, I'll continue to try if I can find them this cheap.

Rasta zoa spread like wild fire. I started with 3 polyps frag about 2 month ago, and currently i have 10 polyps with 2 new mini polyps. Patient is the answer to reefing! :)
