rbta dying?

ok i got a rtba for my b-day and its pretty big im pretty new to marine fish but ive got lots of friends that help get me started.
its at least the size of a softball (its bigger but for refrence)and it seems to be dying. i got some mysis shrimp to feed it.

recently i came home and it was all shrunk up. so i did a water change and in like 10 min or so it perked back up. and i've had to do this 3 times already. but it seems that it has only done this since ive tried to feed it.

also when it was at the shop when i got it. the tips were bugbling up and after i got it and got my tomato clown (at the same time) the tentacles just get elongated but dont bubble up. they get fat but not like it was at the store. they also tested my water and said my ph was a lil low how i dont know.

the tank is a 30gal
i have a yellow tang
skunk shrimp
tomato clown
rbta

any help would be greatly appreciated. ive never seen a rbta this large before and i dont want to loose it.

thank you

ryan

We need to know what kind of lighting you have, the correct readings of nitrate, nitrite, amonia, calcium, alk, etc. Then maybe we can help you out, by the way welcome to the boards and glad to have you aboard.

Mysis is not enough to keep an anemone happy, he needs meaty foods such as silversides. Get some of those and get him fed, also what lighting do you have?

as far as lighting goes i have just one 20w 18k light its notmuch would i need more than that? is lighting really important for them. and if so what you reccomend for a 30gal tank i dont have any intrest in any coral as of yet i wanna be able to keep some other things alive before i spend money on other things ima kill.

I'm having the same problem with my new bta. even the anenome crab has abandoned it... I stick shrimp into it's tentacles and it doesn't take it...
poor crab...
all alone...
waiting to die...
things like this i don't like about the reef business...

You get .66666666 watts per gallon which is the same thing as 2/3. Your anemone needs strong light, stronger than most corals out there. That goes for basically any anemone. The first thing on your to do list is to get stronger lighting.

Now how about your tank parameters? What are they? Anemones need pristine water to live successfully and good flow.

BTW, a yellow tang in a 30 gallon is a big no no. Tangs need lots of swimming room. At least a 75 gallon is recommended for a yellow tang.

Always do your research before buying anything.

Yeah. I read that. All of it. Looked at the pretty pictures too.
