RBTA Emergency?!

well it got sucked into the Closed Loop intake grate...just the grating...not to the actual pump.

this is what's left of it.

is there ANY way to know if it's even possible that it may live? The foot is trying to hang on by a hair...but it is really messed up. I only had it for three days. It never went to the light...it always styed in the back and dark areas...but would inflate beautifully, and then got sucked into the grateing of the intake to the closed loop.

I thought they loved the light?

Anyone think it may make it?

ok here's an update at 4:40am. My girlfriend has been keeping me informed as to if it looks better or worse...(she goes by the tank a lot and is worried)...I took some pics to show...

I still don't know if it's possible for it to make a full recovery, like I said I had it three days and it only ate a couple of misys the second day (I think) so I don't know how much I should be bothering it, or if I should just leave it alone and wait and see.

any advice will help.

Nothing you can do other than leave it alone. BTA are tough. If tahnk condition is good, it will recover. Just let it be. Good luck.

I would diffuse that close loop intake to a much wider area, there are various means to do it

it looks like it is trying to make a recovery....like Orion said, just leave it alone, but keep an eye on it. If it starts to take a turn for the worse, then you need to pull it out so it doesn't pollute your tank

It is already re-inflating which is a good thing. The best thing you can do is to just leave it alone and let it heal.

I'd waste your time and say leave it alone and let it try to heal, but that's been covered

I had a yellow BTA get sucked into a K1 powerhead and was all jacked up. It came back within a few days or a week. I then hit it with 90 degree water and it still came back. Granted, it's now the size of a dime instead of palm-sized, but it's alive. I was surprised how tough those little water bags are

I checked this morning...and it's still where it is in the pics. It's not moving toward the back anymore. And it still looks roughly like it does in the pics.

I can't belive how much it still "looks" like an anemone after what it looked like before. I didn't think it would re-inflate that fast, much less last night a few hours after I found it. I hope he stays put. And I hope he stays away from the intakes. (just hope it will start to EAT)

Dave, The third pic shows green markings on the column. Can those normally be seen or was it something the camera flash created.

The green in the pics is just the normal coloring in his "stalk." it's always been there and is quite attractive looking. (the red's and purples accented by the green highlights on te stalk)

Why do you ask? is that a problem?

No, I think it looks cool. I have about thirty Roses from several different lines but none have the green stripe.

thanks...the GF said that it had started to MOVE back to where it was before...when it got sucked up. So I just had her turn off teh CL till I got home to make sure it doesn't go BACK there too fast and have an even more tragic accident while we are both at work.

so here's hopin that the Nem has a good night tonight.

It looks like it's recovering pretty good...leave it alone and keep your fingers crossed...get some ZZZZ's while you're at it...staying up won't help but only hurt you due to lack of sleep...

I wouldn't attempt to feed it for a while. Wait till it's big, puffy and healed, otherwise it will be wasting energy digesting that could go to repair. Again, good luck!

I got it from a guy on here...if you want his name I can give it to you through a pm...he was a great seller...packed it perfectly and got it to me in less than 24 hours...cali, to texas.

I'm hopeing to get a couple more (or just one) from a trade with the same guy...it's a beautiful nem. (to me, my first)

I have a 60 gallon tank (58g plus sump...minus rocks and sand...came out to be an exact 60...weird). It's a 36" long tank, and I got the ATI Powermodule 36" 6 bulb T5 fixture. It's a lot of light...but it's pretty...and I never thought (or heard) that it would be too much light. Maybe it is...

anyways I'm gonna post some more pics in a second of how it looks right now.

ok here are the pics I took tonight. He's now "face first" in the sand...but his foot is still hanging on. you can't see it in the pics...but it looks like some of his side is shreaded and the guts are hanging out...how sad.

But on a brighter note my male bangaii is holding eggs for the third time. Each time he holds them longer...maybe this time he will hold them till they hatch. I would love to finally have some baby cardinals...

The Rose is looking good. It will take about a week for it to suck back in the guts and heal over.
