RBTA Feeding

I have a small RBTA "ca. 2 - 3" that I got about 3 weeks ago. It was a split off another captive RBTA. I try to feed it every other day a small piece of shrimp. The problem is that my other fish (especially the Naso Tang and 2 Clowns) will steal the shrimp and run away with it.

My Ocellaris Clowns will not host in this RBTA or even go near it unless it is being fed and then they steal the shrimp and consume it themselves. After feeding it I have to stand guard for quite a while until the RBTA has swallowed the shrimp.

Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to correct the situation? Also, any idea why my clowns will not host in the RBTA. They are not hosting anywhere else but do occasionally play around in the Green Hammer. My only thought is that maybe the RBTA is still too small for the clowns to host in it or for it to keep a strong hold on food...

Two things...

1. I never feed my anemone, who feeds them in the ocean. I've had it for a little over two years. Keep up with water changes and good water quality and it should be fine.

2. If you can catch your clown... put him and the anem in a bucket for a little while. That worked for me. I think after about a half hour or so they were buddies.

some people like to see there nems grow real fast. i would give your fish some shrimp before you feed the nem so they have something to occupy there time when your nem is eating.

I feed my GBTA when I feel like it or remember to feed it. It is HUGE. You def. don't have to feed it food if it gets enough light.

Nature feeds them. In the wild they do catch some pray and being in the ocean 24/7 they are going to have occasional scraps fall right on them from time to time. This is the reason that they have a mouth. I think it is good to feed them. The frequency of feeding would depend on the lighting. If I don't feed mine, he starts banging on the glass and gives me the tentacle.
