RBTA healthy?

I was wondering if this RBTA looks normal? It is my first anemone and I have always wanted one, I waited until my tank normalized before getting one.. my tank has been up for about 6 months, with rocks from my dad's old 100 gallon tank (we took it down and used his rocks). All of my parameters are good and I have been doing 25% water changes weekly in order to accomodate this new addition. I noticed it had white along the base of its tentacles and the tentacles were not inflated like the majority of BTA I see while browsing these forums.. I am wondering what the white is at the base and whether or not this anemone was healthy?

I paid 60 dollars for him at my local fish store and it seemed healthy when I bought him.. I even double checked with the clerks to make sure it wasn't doing badly, every other piece of coral in the tank was doing fine, as well as a couple of GBTA that were very nice in color, so I went ahead with the purchase.

Sidenote, when I was buying the anemone and walking out of the store, an employee asked how much I paid for him, I felt that was pretty weird. Also, nightly he runs under his rock and hides in the back there, usually after I feed my fish. I spot feed him two times a week with a turkey baster, usually Mysis shrimp since I have yet to purchase the other food I have researched.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, this is my first time posting on this forum, I am wondering whether or not this guy is healthy or not, and whether this is normal or not for a RBTA.. Thanks in advance!!

The white streaking is completely normal color variation. No problem, your RBTA looks good.

Thank you guys, I was excited when I found one for that cheap and was able to put it in my tank.. I am glad it is a healthy looking RBTA, now if only my clowns will host it instead of the zoas on my live rock :lol:

also, is his nightly moving normal for anemones??

What do you call moving? Moving from one end of the tank to the other is odd, but moving about in the same general region is normal, especially until it finds a place it really likes.

The anemone moves from his spot (the rock on the picture towards teh back of my tank) to behind the rock hidden away under a lip in the back.. Just wondering if that is normal, it happens every night right after he eats and towards when I turn the lights off

Is the foot staying in the same spot, and just the "body" moving? Is so, no big deal. If the whole anemone is moving, that isn't normal; when the conditions for an anemone are correct they will stay in place.

I see, I thought it was kind of weird.. the entire anemone is moving back and forth..it comes out during the day, fully opens and acts "normal,"just after eating he goes to the back of the rock..I can't tell if it is a big move, or if he keeps his "foot" in the same spot and the rest moves down or not because it is such a small move.. I got the anemone on Saturday, so I feel like he is just trying to find a nice spot and is moving between daytime and nighttime..

Since you've only had it since Saturday I wouldn't be too worried but..

To be safe;

What size tank?
What lights?
How long has it been set up?
What are your parameters -- with numbers.
