Sorry to hear it melted down man. I have a huge RBTA right now and I couldn't even imagine it dying.

Ouch, I wouldn't even 10-minute-acclimate neon tetras let alone something like an RBTA. Sorry to hear it didn't make it.

You live and learn. I have one that is almost a year old now and litterally dumped him in the tank when I first got him by accident. No acclimation whatsoever and he made it. Maroon clown is hosting him now as well. Actually its more of a pink with green tips BTA.
