Rbta in small tank

Picking up a baseball sized rbta for my 7.5g. Worried about it getting to my other corals, I'm thinking of corralling it some how to keep it where i want it. I heard the sting can do dinner serious damage to other corals. Will my plan work, or will it keep escaping it's area?

It will go where it wants regardless of how you try to contain it. You may get lucky and it may stay where you want it but I dont see it working out in such a small tank.

Provide with optimal light and flow and you might get lucky. You are braver than me in trying a been in that small of a tank.

I probably wouldn't even do just the nem in that small of a tank let alone corals and a nem.
A wandering nem that close to PH's and intakes is asking for trouble IMO, and keeping params stable in that small of a tank enough for a nem will be a challenge.
Safest is to keep corals in that only if you are asking advice what to do.

My best advice to you is to have one or the other in such a small tank. However if you just have to do it...You can keep a 3" BTA in a 7.5G tank. It will however eventually outgrow the tank. As to keeping the BTA in the tank with other corals, that will be the trick. It depends on the other corals. If there are just a few and you can temporarily move them to a corner out of the way, you might get lucky and the BTA will settle in a spot. Turn off all flow to the tank, place the BTA where you would like it to stay and leave the flow off for 20 minutes. Then turn the flow back on. Then you can more the corals around staying outside of the BTAs reach. But of course, the BTA can move anytime it wants to and they frequently do so. Might not look too good but you can corral the BTA using egg crate to separate it from the other corals. If you chose to do this you need to be sure there is enough room for the BTA to expand fully without being cramped by the egg crate.

I know someone who has kept a BTA in such a small tank for more than 6 months and he only uses Tap Water in the tank. It was an experiment that he has just kept running. His BTA still looks healthy and happy! BTAs are a lot hardier than most would think.

Of course it sounds like an excellent excuse to upgrade to a larger tank! LOL

Lol sounds sketchy at best, luckily there's 3 other small corals currently and i can move them for a while til the rbta finds its spot. If it doesn't work so be it. Worth a shot! Thanks for the advice guys.

from my little experience in the hobby (4 months) and having 5 nems in a biocube they do move around alot - so just be prepared to move them - im going to be getting a frag holder for my corals very soon.
enjoy :-D

An anemone will travel where it wants and respond positively when comfortable. Be on the lookout for signs of too much or too little flow.
