RBTA next to Clam

Thanks for your time.

I recently reaquascaped my tank. As a result, one of my RBTAs has decided to pirch next to my 3" inch blue maxima. The mantle is fully extended in all but one area - occassionally the rbta will brush against the clam in this area. Will the clam move if he gets bothered enough? I've tried my best to annoy the RBTA into moving but he's holding fast in his new home.

Suggestions?

Thanks for your post.

During my reaquascaping adventure - I was told that its risky to relocate a clam. Does the risk from the RBTA supercede the risk in moving?

If you don't move either the RBTA or the clam, the clam will get stung. I would move the clam. When you move the clam take a sharp knife and gently tip the clam to one side untill you can see the byssal threads that are holding it to whatever, then cut these threads as far away from the clam as you can.

Alternately, if there is a way to insert a bit of a barrier (piece of live rock perhaps) between the two, each may shift on their own enough that they don't touch.
