RBTA Spawning - Video

Well, I walk by my tank and it's all cloudy! Then I see my anemone spewing out this white stuff. Low and behold, he's spawning! Here's a nice little video clip I managed to get.

Any idea if this stuff is bad for my tank? Should I be performing massive waterchanges?

Actually looks like he was having a smoke afterwards lol
And the clowns giving him no piece during it at all, suprised he was able to do it

That was very very cool! In the future- spawns should be dealt with actively. I had some major damage done in the past from palyotha eggs. Sperm don't seem to be as toxic, but it is still a mass release of organic matter into the water. Times I've heard it worst was from clams.

Would you say a 15-20% water change with the addition of fresh carbon would be adequate? I did a quick search, but didn't find anything on water treatment afterwards.

But I guess it's a lunar thing, because there were several other people that had the same thing happen withing a day or two of mine. They typically occur in the spring and fall.

Awesome about hearing about other reports on the timing of other events. The spawning events are so rare in general in aquariums (relatively speaking) that I don't think much has really been looked into in this regard. I volunteer you to write up a report on this subject for Reefkeeping magazine (yes i'm serious).
What you suggest sounds like a standard good starting point, with extra being made in the event another change is deamed needed within the following day or so.
