I put her in on Wednesday and I think she's splitting already. Am I wrong?

Splitting can occur because of two conditions. Splitting is usually a good sign of its enviroment but...

Splitting also occurs because its stressed out. Maybe it was already splitting when you bought it?

This was the anemone the morning after I put her in. Definitely not splitting.

This is them now. One looks really happy and one looks like crap. Is this normal? Is the happy one the mother colony?

Thats a nice rbta.

Thanks!

You don't know how long it will take for the clone to look better do ya? It doesn't want to eat anything either.... I even tried some mysis and brine.

After I moved my tank -- From Chicago to Lombard my RBTA split, it was from the stress of the move, similar to you just getting yours. Doesn't happen all the time, but not uncommon.

As for how long before it "looks better" that could take up to a couple of weeks. I am not surprised that it didn't want to eat yet. I would wait a couple of days (perhaps Thursday) before trying to feed it again. I have had at least 15 splits from my BTAs & RBTAs, none of them ate the first couple of days after the split.

HTH.

Its because they haven't formed their mouths yet.

What kind of lighting do you have Aquaticman74?

It's a fixture with a 400w 10k XM and 2 65w Actinic PC's.

Its because they haven't formed their mouths yet.

Now that makes sense. :p
