RBTA turning brown

I have had my RBTA now for about 2 months and it has slowly gone from a bright vibrant red to a dull brownish color. All parameters check out and I have a Tek 8 bulb t5 fixture for lighting. Has anyone ever had this happen or know what I can do to bring back the color?

IMHO, If the anemone is losing the red pigments and brown is becoming more dominant, the PAR it is exposed to has dropped. If you SLOWLY increase the lighting, the colors should shift back.

I concur. I would blame lighting for this color shift, not that yours isnt sufficient. It just may have been under more powerful lighting previously

Your anemone turned brown because it is receiving less light than it's used to. The red pigment shields zooxanthellae from unusable (more than sufficient) light as to not bleach the anemone from over exposure. When you took it home and threw it under lesser light, it's red pigment vanished so the zooxanthellae can receive more light.

That makes perfect sense as it did go under 1/2 this amount of light when I brought it home. I have been feeding it, is there anything else I should do to help it recover? Thanks for the help.

My GBTA anemone was purchased out of a tank that had a 400w pendant 12 inches from it. I have had it for 2 months and it is roughly 20" away from the 150w mh that is over the part of the tank he decided to live in. It just now started to green again after the browning stage.
