I have a normal RBTA that keeps splitting and sometimes the clones have very purple feet. is this normal or what, i've never really seen any with purple feet. Please LMK if im just crazy. pics to come. thanks,

Jake

I would say it's not normal for a BTA to split frequently, signals poor water quality or some other stressor.

I would have to disagree and say that's not 100% true about water quality. It's in a tank full of lps/sps that are all thriving along with other fish and inverts so water quality isn't an issue. Maybe something else is causing it to split but the person I got the rbta from his does the same thing. Could it just be that this particular rbta tends to split more than others?

I believe that some will split sooner and some will get very large before they split. It may depend on how much room it has.

Your other's foot is red, reddish purple? If it's contracted or not expanding fully (I would expect this for a recent split) it may appear darker or have a higher concentration of zooxanthellae and appear darker or more purple.

It may be just stress. When I got my RBTA it's foot was very purple. Now that I have had it a while the foot is now white.
