RBTA yes or no?

I'd really like to get an RBTA for my clownfish.

I already have a reef tank going though which I don't like the idea of putting an anemone in there with corals since most likely it'll move. What do you guys thing about this?

Just a few LPS on the sand, the right side has a few softies and leathers, and the left side on the high part of the rocks houses some SPS.

The tank isn't packed full, but I guess it really only depends on where the nem feels like going?

Would you guys try to add one or not?

Thanks.

I used to have BTAs (( the key word being "used" )). While the main one would stay put, its clones would move around, which in turn stung the heck out of my SPS. For my SPS tanks, I stick with sand dwelling anemones.

i would say yes.... once my RBTA found its spot it hasnt moved at all...it got realllly big though like 15+inches across... i had to move some stuff to accomidate but it never wandered....even after it split both pretty much stay in the same place

I always thought they were cool though. Just as long as it would find a spot (a nice spot for me) would be cool. I could move things around like you said if need be. It won't eat small fish like my bangaii if they would wander too close or anything, would it?

I have an amazing spot where I'd like to put one but chances are it won't stay there anyway.

So if I decide to get one, where would you place an order for one? I know DD has some pretty often but at around $150 each (overpriced).

I tried a sabae anemone in my first tank and it died, but it was only lit by 4x36w T5, plus it moved around a lot and it got near an intake on a canister filter and was stuck in there for a while. Those two factors I'm assuming probably killed it. So in this tank I have halides and no intakes it could get in other than the powerheads (located on the side glass and at the top).

Central. Thats a distance away unless they ship easily.

Man, that's the sad part. Even with overnight shipping.... I had a diver's den fish get shipped out to Memphis before it got to me... and I live an hour away! Next time I'm driving if I order off DD again.

Maybe a little off topic for the thread, but the clowns I'll be getting are about 1" in size. Are they way to small to go into my 125 gallon reef? I do have another tank but really no room for it. If 100% need be I can put them there for a meanwhile thing. Let me know what you think.

What do you have in the 125 ( fish wise ), assuming no evil fish, I wouldn't worry about the clowns being too small.

Too bad your so far, I have never shipped and think winter would be a bad time to start. I hope you find a nice bta. I think your clowns will be just fine in your tank, good luck.

As far as anemones go, I think they are one of the better shippers.

But, if you are only an hour from LA, I would just pick one of there. The gas money spent would be cheaper then the shipping costs, plus wouldn't have to worry about any delays.

An hour away from the retail outlet in Rhinelander. They don't get RBTA in. I've seen a green one there. The LA aquaculture facility is located right behind the retail outlet so I could go grab a DD one for $150.
