rc500 skimmer question..

just got me new rc500 skimmer wooooohoooo told my wife its like a piece of art.... she said uhhhhh its a round piece of plastic but im glad u like it.. anyway its a external model my question is would u still put it in the sump, just in case of a leak or even worse anyone ever have one leak or blow out on them?

you can install in or out of sump

Safer to install in sump than outside of sump, of course. Especially if the skimmer every goes crazy and overflows, at least it will just drop back into the sump.

ya 10/4 just wanted a "clean" sump just bags and a fuge. ucan where in the bay area are u at im in brentwood...

Nice skimmer. The new one with the 3x Eheims? That would have to be a pretty big sump to fit an RC500. I always like that idea in case something causes the skimmer to go crazy and overflow. I'd rather it go back into the sump than all over the floor.

ya its the new one with eheim pumps it is pretty large so not sue what im gonna do will see my sump will be large like 60X30x30
something like that anyway.
