In the last few weeks I have noticed very small white specks on the glass of my 55 gal. tank. After closer scrutiney, I noticed they move around. Should I be alarmed or ? Thanks for all of your imput and great advise.

If the move around, I would assume they were copepods of some type.

OH yeah my tank is full of those and bristle starfish

I have those little guys too, and I have never noticed them doing anything bad or causing harm. In my book more diversity = good!

Hey Kentsreef -

Hard to tell from your picture whether it's copepods (good) or flatworms (bad). If they have little legs and scurry around, then they are copepods. If they have fork tails and swirm around, then they are flatworms.

My guess based on the blurry pictures is that they are probably copepods.

It looks like their bodies are segmented, so thats why I think they are copepods.

Yeah - but a few looks like it might have forked tails. Some definitely looks like copepods - but there are a few that I question.

True, a few look a bit suspicious. But since they are all together, I think that the tails are heopfully just legs. Plus they are all the same color.

Kentsreef, do you have a tripod and a macro mode where you can try to zoom in on a few of those litttle guys?

ok, looked around somemore and have found a few of the ones on the link, ( Spirorbid worms ) are they bad ???
