I had a threadfin anthias in his quarantine tank for two days. Everything fine but today i saw him coming to the surface and spitting water( or gasping if i say it) every now and then. It still reacts promptly towards my actions making before him. I can only say i faced the same situation when i unpacked the new coming fish in serveral cases( however this symptom alsways diminished just after they went into the tank) . But anyone could tell me the reason for this behaviour? I think there must be something wrong that i'm not aware of.

Gasping at the surface (piping) is indicative of gill parasites, which could be just about anything. If there are no other symptoms than piping try treating with Prazi for flukes. If more symptoms appear post back here with a picture.
