Reasons for Coral Aquaculture

Hey there guys. i was given a task to come up with ideas why we should do coral aquaculture. now, that task seems easy, but, there are so many reasons.
So, tell me what you think. Why should we grow corals in our tank (education, resources, etc)
thanks

I feel an even better idea for preserving the wild reefs is to train locals to aqua/mariculture corals for export. Sometimes it is hard to remember that we need to enhance the LOCAL value of the wild reefs so that those people in the area where the corals grow have an economic incentive to keep the living reefs healthy and productive.
I am doing this here in Tonga and I believe it is equally as important, if not more important, than growing coral in remote tanks.-Jim

Jim. very good statement. We need for these islanders to understand that the corals the live amongst are so valuable to the environment

And I think our hobby has driven a significant attitude of plunder on the wild reefs. I feel that companies should be required to show that they are promoting sustainability rather than just exploitation.

To have a never ending source..........

To have a never ending source..........

Every coral I purchase, I frag to make new colonies, even the smallest piece is worth it all.
Coral Aquaculture is going to save this hobby someday, glad to be part of it......................
