Rebel XT - what lens should I buy?

I have a Canon Rebel XT and am looking to buy macro lens that would be good for taking pictures of my tank. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Canon 100mm f2.8 macro is a great lens. Make sure you also purchase a tripod or you will be unhappy with your photos.

I have a Rebel XT and was at this same decision last year. I spent the extra $$ and got the Canon 100mm f2.8. If you have the $$, I highly recommend it!

I asked this same question in several different forums before I bought mine. Nothing but 100% positive feedback, and I have yet to hear (or read) a single regret from an owner after they've bought one. There aren't too many lenses in that category....

Concur with AZTBS though, make sure you have a tripod when shooting all macros.

get the Canon 100mm f2.8 ... it is pure pleasure.
and if you have lots of money go for the Canon 180mm f3.5

I got the Canon EF100mm F2.8 Macro USM and very happy with it.
Great lens IMO.

Definetely not a pro here and still need to learn a lot how to best use the lens but here are a few shots I was able to make so far:

I would recommend any of the 90/100/105mm macro lenses from Canon, Sigma or Tamron. They are all excellent performers. Purchase the Canon macro lens if budget isn't an issue and if you plan on using Canon's TC's with it later down the line. However, since you are asking this question, I don't think you need to worry about that just now.
