Well.

It's time to start over.

This build is a reconstruction of my previous system, Monolith, that crashed a few weeks ago due to a electric failure. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown

My first thought after that was to dismantle and sell out everything but passed a few days I just found that's not the way to go.
So......here we are.

The setup is basically the same, with a little less sand and rocks.
This time I'll able to do what I wanna do on Monolith, but didn't due to the fact that Monolith was an upgrade project.
This is a fresh start, so I can plan it more carefully.

Some setup info:

Dimensions: 1,8 x 1,5 x 0,70 (meters). Cristal Clear 15mm glass with euro braces. Internal overflow box.
Lightining: 2AI Vega + 2 AI Hydra52 over the Big Island and 2AI Vega over the Small Island
Skimmer – SRO Super Reef Octopus 5000 Internal
Calcium reactor - Super Reef Octopus 5000 dual chamber
Cooling - Chiller ¾ HP Gelaqua Chiller
Heating - Two Finnex 500W titanium heater
Controller - Apex Gold
Circulation – 1 Vortech MP40 (with battery Backup), 1Maxspect Gyre XF150
Return – Reef Octopus Water Blaster 7000
Sandbed – 2cm of samoa pink, Fiji pink and crushed coral #1
Sansibar rocks

Six line is still a doubt in the list.
I've had one once.....and it pulled out an eye from my female ocelaris...I didn't see it doing it, but always there was some tension between them....so, one day....one eye only.
Mine used to harass my fridmanii as well.

Melanurus is an option to replace...mine was peaceful. Has the almost the same color pattern and behaviour....

Let's see.

I absolutely love your rockwork.
I have never seen a sixline wrasse I liked. I have always known them to be the smallest and meanest fish in the ocean. I would never add another to my tank or any tank I ever cared for.

It's the pretty awesome good looking balanced fluid layout that I ever made...lol...

Seriously.....I'm very satisfied with it... And I can imagine it within 2 years, with corals....It'll be sweet.....


About the six line......I like the color and I like the hunting fish style....
But I can replace it for a melanurus....In fact, I'll do it.
Plus, I can add a yellow coris....the biggest hunter that I've ever had...(the biggest jumper too....:thumbdown)

I'm done with evil fish.
In my last reef, my Powder Blue, after 3 or 4 years became the biggest bully fish in the world......and I hated it....
The Clown tang will be the only tank because of that....and if it get annoying, it'll go out faster than it went in...

I'm hope a lot to things stay peaceful from now on, I followed your system from the design, transfer and "the end". It was a terrible experience for any hobbyist, I'm glad to see that you didn't give up.

For the fish stock I would consider a pair of bangai cardinal and a Longnose hawkfish.

Good choice. I love melanarus wrasses. That's what drew me to them - their "always on the hunt" mentality.

About the bangai, I've tried it twice...in both they died after a few months.
The flame hawk is an interesting fish....but it don't swim....I decided put only swimmers this time...

I like this kind of tank a lot.....never gonna get another kind of tank.
The only problem is that a tank like this needs a room for it.
About the anthias, I realy love them, but they're very.....very....very expensive here in Brazil....a shoal is off the limits....plus, I've tried 3 squamipinnis in my 750l tank...1 died a month later....1 died 6 months....the last one only last a year.....:sad2:

It's hard to look at rocks on a lifeless box of glass after years with a reef on the house.....but....it's what I can do right now.....and I'm trying to do it the best way.

I love discus. I used to keep wild-caught S. heckel discus from Rio negro and S. haraldi from the Manaus region . Your tank picture has brought back fond memories of my beloved discus. Thanks for sharing your photo.
