Since the beginning I want that this tank shows some biodiversity.
Choose fishes that are reef safe and skips the common sense of: tangs+tangs+clowns=reef tank is a very hard task.
Recently, after a friend got a Bluethroat triggerfish I decided to give it a shot.
The Picasso trigger is one of my favorite fishes off all, but I need something that don't destroy my corals.
Looking at some threads I discover the Pinktail triggerfish (Melichthys vidua) a potentially reef safe triggerfish which have a very interesting color, body shape, swimming pattern and personality........Everything that I wanted in a fish!

So, I give it a try:

Alex that is an amazing fish. I will be interested in whether this fish remains a good citizen. Do you know how big they get? I may have to investigate this one for my reef.

Hi Choss,

Acordding LiveAquaria, Max. Size - 1' 2" :eek2::eek2::eek2:
I expect, in a closed system, something like 8".
Mine is 4~5" now....from head to toe (or tail......rsrsrsrsrs)
It has that peculiar balistidae way to swim witch, for me, worths the show.
I hope that he remains cool about corals and other fishes.
I'll hate to have let him go.

Alex

That blue millie is awesome!

How are the trigger and tang getting along? They both seem like dominant personality fish. Good luck with it!

Thanks!
I think that this millie is one of the most underrated sps along here...
It's an easy coral, fast grower, cheap......maybe this is the cause but I love it...

About the fishes, untill now, both of them just "ignore" each other.
They swim side by side....They sleep in the same place, under the big island...
I hope that both keeps it in this way.

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks Eric!
:)

It's hard to notice the growth of some corals, so I made a folder called "EVO shots" to keep photos of some corals took from time to time from the same point of view.

You've got a great eye for composition. Love the photos. And you're using a phone camera for this as I recall? How are you getting these macro shots with the phone camera?

Thanks.
In fact, I'm using a Canon EOS XSi.
Sobe photos were took with de 18~55mm and others with a 50mm EFS lens.
The "close-ups" were took with the 18-55mm. They're not macros....They're only croped that way.
Due to cost, I don't have any macro lens.
I'm planning to get a set of extension tubes, probably next month or so.
For now I use some cheap close-up filters, atached to the lens.
