Rebuild and recovery of a dead tank

Been almost 2 months now since moving to the Photon v2s and T5 strips down the middle and I couldn't be happier so far. I haven't modified my lighting schedule at all from what I last posted above.

It seems everything really likes it. Even the fish. 10pm is still my favorite look and feel. Very relaxing and seems to have put all my mated fish into a frisky mood too. My clown pair, anthia trio, and chromis pair all go into mating rituals.

My corals seem to ve really taking off. My one really pale green sps of some kind has gown and much greener now. My fiji leather is getting very yellow and also seems to have grown. And my one coral I have no idea what it is has been very slow to encrust until now and taking off.

Forgot to mention. I added a short extension to my skimmer making it about 42" and a Beckett injector to try out. Though I haven't gotten the Beckett working right yet.

Quick picture from earlier tonight. Yellow fiji leather has been s growing again. Likes the new lights it seems.

Also looks like I successfully got lucky and picked out a chromis pair that I think are mating. They certainly do a dance every night when my lights dim down around 10pm. Same with my anthias trio. The male gets really frisky at that time.

The "bio" section of my sump is doing great. I added some more matrix and this time the regular matrix and not the pond matrix which is a little bigger. I still have the pond matrix bagged up and think I like it that way. The matrix I just put right over top of the reverse under gravel filter plate. (RUGF).I also still have the marine pure and bio bricks and plates on top too along with some pukani rocks.

Lots of various pods, worms, dusters, life of all kinds that like the dark. Its an unlit sump with an ATS above it.

the design I posted earlier in this thread.

Took this video tonight and can see the pods you can see swarming around. The bristle worms retreat back in when I turn the lights on but caught one still slightly out.

Oh and fwiw that's my 10pm lighting which is my favorite along with 10am. Just before it drops to just royal blues and a touch of reds.

Two things coming soon I'm excited about. New microscope setup is on its way and the new Rev4 L8 Turbo's Aquatic ATS is due to be built in the next week or so.

Maxspect gyre critter guard was finally put to the test and passed with flying colors. Using the new stretchy mesh ones that come with the newer xf2xx series gyres.

This was what I found this morning. I easily pushed the screen to the side(pictured below), removed, and placed back on the rocks. Looks like a new split.

My Turbo's Aquatics rev4 L8 is in and setup. It's narrower then the rev3 L3 but much taller and longer.

I still have it supported by some wood that I will one day replace with something permanent. I've been saying that for a long time now.

Looking good! Let me know when you need my address.

Sorry, I definitely will. I need to get it boxed up and packaged well so nothing breaks. I had 3 birthdays to deal with this past weekend. I have it all cleaned up. The screen still has mortar on it so it's in a ziplock keeping damp so the mortar doesn't dry out. It also has some algae on it even after spraying it down quite a bit with hot water. I don't think anything would survive but you may want to do a hydrogen peroxide or bleach soak. You do know I have all kinds of nasties in my tank just kept under control. But I would suspect they are actually in more people's systems then people realize.

I can provide the pump as well that it was using. Rio 1700 I think it is. I did reuse the 3/4" vinyl tubing though so you'll need some of that.

I was going to use it off my manifold unless the rio is a better option.
What sort of nasties? I think I have some red turf algae growing, but I can't tell for sure. Not an algae expert yet

Well, I know I have at least two types of dinos plus of course the common cyano and spirulina. I would assume my spraying off and wiping with my fingers would help but never know. I wouldn't trust me. :strooper:
