I am having a small cyano outbreak in my tank and couldn't figure out why. Everything tested fine, so took some tank water to John's and nitrate and phosphate tested very low. I also took some fresh RO/DI water for them to check - tested at 3 even though my TDS meter on my RO/DI unit was showing zero. Filters and resin are only about 6 - 9 months old and since I only use NSW, the only freshwater I make is top off water, so volume thru unit has not been extreme.
John said that you need to recalibrate the TDS meters every so often - mine was in fact off. I replaced the DI resin and hopefully am back at a true zero TDS.
