does anyone know what would cause certain sps to start dying on the underneath side? In some cases it has even spread to most of the coral. It seems like it is only some acros. and certain ones are living that way for a month now. I just lost a red planet and I just noticed it happining to a new acro. Please help thanks

There are a lot of posts like this in the SPS forum lately. Check for acro eating flatworms & other pests and make sure your parameters are stable.

I just went through a similar scenario where only my acros would die, but looking back, none of my sps were thriving. I ended up treating for red bugs, stopped vodka dosing and set up my automated dosers for my daily 2-part. I think the combination of an irritating pest, no nutrients in the tank, and daily swings in my alk/cal were just too much for my acros to handle. 2 weeks later and its a night and day difference on how my corals are looking, from color to growth to polyp extension.

Check for pests. Also, there are proabbly pests we can't see don't know about. So, if possible consider removing and dipping all corals (at elast all sps, or all impacted/stressed corals). And, then consider your QT and introduction regime.
