Recently Fragged Keds Reds wont open

So I fragged a few of my zoas two days ago. I fragged some eagle eyes, radioactive dragon eyes, mean greens, and keds reds.

All the frags opened up fully by the next day; except the keds reds. Ive been fragging zoas for a while and never had this happen.

I did some tests and all parameters were good.

Any Ideas?........Might just take a little longer to re-open than others?

Could you post the parameters? They may just be taking longer to heal. Were they already stressed to begin with or were they healthy when you fragged them?

Just give it some time and watch.
Depending of where you've cut, how you did, and how many polyps were fragged, the new colony (frag) needs to close and save some energy to heal.
Most of the time it's normal.
Make sure you don't see white film or any other organisms on it.

Good luck!
Grandis.

Should be no worries. Some of mine do the same thing when they are fragged. It depends on where you fragged them and how much they need to heal. When they have fully recovered they will open back up. sometimes it takes 10-14 days. Like Grandis said they stay closed when they are healing. Good Luck!

As mentioned, some will stay closed longer than others after fragging. Another possibility is that the stress from fragging made them susceptible to a bacterial or viral infection. I always dip zoa or LPS frags in Revive or coral Rx for a few minutes after I cut them. This cuts down on infection increases survival significantly, in my experience.

Keds reds can be very sensitive to fragging and parameter swings, in my experiance. They can be very sensitive/tempermental. I say give them some time and hope for the bast.

Fragging is always a bit risky.

Perfectly normal but prolonged retraction is a concern.

How big were the frags?

How often have they been fragged?

What is your post fragging protocol?

Where did you place them when you fragged them?
