Rechargable Media

I know some chemical media is rechargable like Purigen. What I am wondering is what other media may be recharged. My fiancee' "a chemical engineer" was saying that plants often recharge carbon through boiling and let the waste that was clogging the pores fall to the bottom.


Does Phosban share the same properties

Can you reactivate activated carbon like this?

Carbon and PhosBan can't be reactivated by any method practical for most reefkeepers. I don't know that PhosBan can be reactivated at all. Carbon could be, if heated to a very high temperature (over 1000 F, if memory serves), etc. The chemistry forum has details on these issues, if you want to do some research.
