I have aKent deion 200R Deionizer. I want to re-charge the cartridges but I don't know how. I know it involves lye and Muratic acid, but I don't the exact process of recharging. Does anbyody know how to reacharge a deionizer?

Cation gets recharged with acid and anion gets the lye. I don't remember the amounts of each though. I'll check when I get home.

How many gallons are you getting out of that unit?

don't know how many gallons I get out of the unit. I haven't really been measuring it and I haven't kept it clean.

Do I soak the beads in muriatic acid/ lye or do I need to drip it?

How long does it need to spend in the acid/lye?

If the resins are heavily contaminated I would soak them. Otherwise a nice slow drip will do the job.

When I have done my resins in the past I usually soak them. I find it easier than dripping. Altogether with the strength of chems I'm using it takes about an hour from start to finish.

Ok here you go-

Mix 18 ounces water with 6 fluid ounces of Lye.
Mix 12 ounces of acid to 12 ounces of water. Add acid to water, NOT water to acid.

I mix these a day ahead of when I am going to do my recharge. I use old plastic milk jugs to store the mix's. When you mix the water and Lye it is going to get VERY hot. I have a 5g bucket of cold water handy to put the lye mix container in after I get done shaking it. You might have to shake the mix a few times since some of the lye will harden in the bottom of the container.

Like I said I prefer to soak my resins. I don't know if this mixture will produce enough if you plan on dripping it into the canisters.

i think you need to have the cation and anion separate from one another in order to recharge them separately in their respective solutions.

that's why i never did di resin recharge...it seemed like more pita than it was worth.
