Recharging R134G for Chiller

Anybody know where in San Diego I can take my chiller to get recharged? I called some A/C repair shops but none of them know what I'm talking aboout. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

never done it but can't you buy those R134 recharge kits from the auto parts store like pep boys or autozone. i've seen them come with guages at a reasonable price.

What brand chiller do you have? AquaLogic is in SD near Sea World. I had my AquaLogic chiller recharged there in the past.

first off.. you need a licence to handle refridgerant of any type. "phatphisher" that stuff you buy at a store is R134A oil. i have heard of 134G, but never heard of where to buy it. you can try a HVAC repairman (heating, ventilation and airconditioning) tech. there are old systems out there that reqiure odd types of refridgerant. you may be able to replace it with standard automotive R134A. but it needs to be removed, recycled and the systems needs to be pulled to a vacume to boil out moisture. new oil added and possibly new seals also a desicant bag of some sort. easy proccess.
.
auto techs that are certified maybe able to help also. but like i said, they use R134A and the old R12.

Thanks for the advice. I would not even know where to start in trying to recharge this thing myself, so I'll leave that up to the people that know what they're doing. It's a Via Aqua 1/4HP CC25 I got used from a local in SD. I was going to sell it but it seems to have lost its cooling power, so I figure before I sell, I have to make sure it will do what I advertise it to do.

Doh! I just looked at the tag again, refrigerant is R134A. Pic below:

any local auto (reputable) repair shop that will accept the job will do. same as auto referidgerant. the 120g refers to the total in weight of R134A it will take. also ask them to check for leaks before they start. its rather easy for them too. its called a "a/c sniffer". as its name, it sniffs for refrifgerant leaks. and can detect a leeak as little as 1g per day. there is also oil to be added. i ASSUME its not going to be over much more than 1/8'' of an ounce......but dont take my word on that

why do you feel your chiller needs a recharge? My HVAC guy was able to check my chiller. Its a pretty simple ting to check for them, if they know what their doing.

These things should never need to be recharged?

Yeah these things shouldn't have to be recharged unless the copper tubing or the radiator got punctured some how.

Are you sure you compressor is turning on and not just the fan? It should sound similar to your refridgerator when it first turns on to cool.

yeah, the compressor turns on when it cools, but the water temp does not cool down. i just thought maybe it needs to be recharged since the person i got it from used it for a couple of years, it was working fine when i got it, kept my tank at 80deg, but lately, the water temp has been at 84 and last night, water got up to 87. one more thing that came to mind was maybe when i moved to a mj1200, water is flowing too fast thru the unit and not getting enough cooling effect. i had a mj900 on there but it crapped out on, and i only had a 1200 to replace it with. i'll see if i can get a smaller pump on there. thnx guys.

it scares me to think that a MJ1200 would be too much flow for a chiller.

Check the ambiet air temp around the chiller. If its not cool enough you could be kicking out the comperssor.

1/4 via aqua chiller

How much do you want for it as it is?

Thanks,
